Pinus Nigra (Austrian pine) is an impressive evergreen pine with long green needle, unusual bark and ideal as a feature tree in your garden. They grow best in a sunny position and are suitable to be grown in clay soil. It is moderately fast growing, at about 30–70 cm in a year depending on growing conditions. It usually has a rounded conic form, that becomes irregular with age. This large pine can grow higher than 8 metres and reaches maturity in 20-50 years.
This variety tolerates shaping well thus you could remove the lower branches over time to create a crown.
